Materials:
Per student or group of students:
Introduction

-If possible have an employee of a local water treatment facility come out and speak with students.
Procedure
-Build a reservoir with students. The VDOE's lesson "A Reservoiring We Will Go," lays out step by step instructions for how to build a reservoir with students. Go to:http://www.doe.virginia.gov/testing/sol/standards_docs/science/2010/lesson_plans/grade3/earth_patterns_cycles_changes/sess_3-9ad1.pdf
Conclusion:
-Students will discuss how water gets to the reservoir and how it gets to one's own home.
-If possible, take students to a reservoir or water treatment facility.
Ideas for Differentiation:
Students will work in groups and can have designated roles in groups based on strengths.
Assessment:
Students will write in science journals: Describe water's journey from a reservoir to your home.
